The PTE test or the Pearson Test of English is a language proficiency test that assesses the candidate’s ability and skill to adapt them to a foreign land in a different university. • While attempting the writing section, use correct punctuations: commas, full stops, capital letters, etc. When asked to summarize text, make sure that your response must be between 5 to 75 words. Responses less than 5 words and more than 75 words will not be scored.

• While writing an essay, identify the main topic; areas one needs to focus upon, and any specific point of view that you might be asked to take. Keep in mind the word limit which is usually between 200-300 words.

• The writing component of PTE can be a tad intimidating as this component has time constraints as well. This component consists of summarizing a given text and writing an essay on a given topic.

• The best way to prepare for this is by practicing. Practicing and reading incessantly is the key to cracking the writing part of PTE. Summarizing is basically writing the gist of the passage given, so try understanding the concept and then explain it in a simpler form using keywords from the passage.

• Another most important thing to be noted is, always stick to the word limit given. Essay writing can seem to be tedious work but by reading avidly, PTE essay writing becomes as easy as pie. Jot down your thoughts on the given topic and then start writing the essay in an organized manner starting with an introduction and ending with a conclusion.

• While doing the writing component, it is very important to be mindful of time as this assessment is timed. Practicing with a timer will help you manage time efficiently.

PTE Speaking :

• During speaking, respond quickly and keep on speaking. A microphone will automatically stop recording after 3 seconds of silence. You will be given 10-40 seconds depending upon the task, to look and understand the text before recording starts.

• In the PTE speaking section, make sure that you include as many important points as you can in the short span of time that you get. Make use of complex and compound sentences and stress on words that you feel need to be highlighted.

PTE Reading :

• In this you have to manage time and try to spend only 1 to 2 min for choosing single and multiple types only because if you spend more time on this you may miss the last questions which carry heavy marks, Secondly, in multiple types, it selects only what you feel is right don't select those options in which you have a dilemma or you are confused as it has negative marking.

• Focus on fill in the blanks and selecting from blocks as these have good marks content.

 PTE Listening :

• A very good concentration and focus are key to crack this section. You will have an optional break before this section. Try to take the break, munch something, and reenergize yourself before this section.

• Watch a lot of English movies or series without subtitles or listen to podcasts with different English accents. If you are able to follow at least 80% of the English, then this section should not be too hard for you. If you have difficulty understanding English, then you will have to work on it.

• During the exam, listen to all the recordings carefully and take notes wherever it helps you.
